Being a lifelong Tom Cruise fan, I was so fidgety to go and get this movie. Since it not in any way worked out, I was not able to get to the histrionic arts, so I was out of one’s mind to keep one’s eyes open for it on DVD. At first I was weary since I am not a capital fan of curriculum vitae movies, but this cinema blew me away. Scads times you look at Cruise and reckon of him from his younger days, but within a only one minutes of this talking picture you are so engrossed with his character that you forget all that.

Valkyrie is a film that take a look at the Hitler regime in a way we have never seem before. Cruise’s character, Claus Von Stauffenberg, was one of the few who fought to take down Hitler, the most evil tyrant the world has ever seen. It has a suspenseful and entrancing plot and give an in depth look at the time,place and minds of the characters.

It was filmed in various locations, throughout Germany, where many of the actual events took place, including scenes of the historic Bendlerblock. That along with the outstanding costumes by Joanna Johnston, gives this movie a realistic feel, yet it feels modern at the same time. With the various characters to hold your interest it does not make you feel like you are watching the history channel, like most historically based movies do.

The DVD, is something everyone should see, even those that went to see the film in the movies. It is packed with lots of extras and features, plus with such an intriguing plot you want to be sure that nothing was missed.

The musical scores were right on the money and helped add to the setting and the impact of this film. I have read some reviews myself on this film and honestly they seem to be mixed. But I tell you; if you like a film full of suspense, with good character development and some romance thrown in, then you will love this film. Not only that but perhaps you can learn a little something about WWII while youre at it, I know I did.
